We had our first field trip right before spring break. We have at least two more planned before summer. Check out pictures from our field trip to Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shop and The Palouse Discovery Science Center! At Ferdinand's we learned how they make cheese and ice cream. At PDSC we dissected owl pelts and explored the different activities PDCS has to offer.

NewsReaders are Leaders. U of I is helping us promote the importance of reading. Have you kids read to you in the car. Asking questions will help with their comprehension. Testing will come before we know it!

What are we learning?
Math
We are starting our introduction to fractions! This topic will be visited at every grade from now on until high school! We are also studying the properties of Addition and Subtraction. Ask your student what 3 properties they have learned about.

Science/ Engineering
We have concluded our lesson on simple machines. We will now be focusing on the famous silk worm project with Ms. Granja. Mrs. DeMyer will be teaching all about the Middle Ages. These two topics will take us until the end of the year! Ask your students what silk worms eat.
ELA
We are continuing to expand out knowledge on what make a reader interested in what we are writing. We will be using these skills in creating own versions of Fractured Fairy Tails. The students will be following the writing process to complete their stories. Ask your student what a Fractured Fairy Tail is.
